TECHNICAL SEO

The deep work most agencies hand to juniors.

Technical SEO is where 25 years of hands-on experience earns its keep. I find what is actually holding your site back and fix it properly. No skimming. No hand-offs.

Where most agencies fall short

Technical SEO is not glamorous, but it is where rankings are won and lost at scale. A crawl budget problem on a 50,000-page site, a faceted navigation leaking PageRank, a Core Web Vitals failure costing ranking position: these are not things a junior with a Screaming Frog licence can reliably diagnose and fix.

I have spent 25 years working on technically complex sites across Legal, Ecommerce, Publishing, and SaaS. I have seen the same structural mistakes repeated across every sector and I know exactly where to look.

Every piece of technical work is delivered personally by me, with findings explained in plain language and recommendations prioritised by impact. Your developers will get clear, actionable briefs, not a 300-row crawl export and a shrug.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Right for you if…

In-house marketing teams

You have developers and content resource but lack someone senior enough to diagnose complex technical problems and direct the fix properly.

Scale-ups with technical debt

Fast growth has left architectural problems behind. You know something is wrong but need someone who can find it and explain it clearly.

Enterprise brands

Large, complex sites where technical SEO mistakes compound at scale. You need senior experience, not a checklist.

HOW I WORK

What working with me looks like.

01

Deep crawl and diagnosis

Full site crawl with manual investigation of the issues that automated tools surface but cannot interpret. I look at everything.

02

Prioritisation by impact

Issues ranked by their actual effect on rankings and traffic, not just by severity score. You know what to fix first and why.

03

Developer briefs

Clear, plain-language recommendations your dev team can act on immediately. No ambiguity, no back-and-forth.

04

Review and verification

I check the fixes are implemented correctly and measure the impact. The job is not done when the brief is handed over.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions I get asked.

A proper technical SEO audit goes well beyond a crawl tool report. It covers site architecture, internal linking, crawl budget, indexation, Core Web Vitals, structured data, rendering, canonicalisation, and how all of these interact. The output is a prioritised list of issues with clear explanations of what is wrong, why it matters, and what needs to happen to fix it.

Some fixes have near-immediate impact: resolving a crawl budget problem or fixing canonicalisation issues can show measurable improvement within weeks of implementation. Others, like improving Core Web Vitals or rebuilding site architecture, take longer because they require development resource and Google needs time to reprocess the changes. A realistic timeframe for meaningful results is three to six months from when fixes go live.

Most technical SEO recommendations require development resource to implement, yes. What I provide is complete clarity on what needs doing, written in language your developers can act on directly. I can also work alongside your dev team during implementation and review the changes once they are live to confirm they have been executed correctly.

Common warning signs include pages that should be ranking but are not indexed, organic traffic that has plateaued despite good content, a large gap between the number of pages on your site and the number Google has indexed, or a history of traffic drops following site migrations. If any of these apply, a technical audit will almost certainly surface issues worth fixing.
