Spire Homecare is a home care provider with over 250 employees. They deliver more than 3,500 hours of care a week across four locations in Wiltshire and Somerset.

The situation

The old website focused heavily on Salisbury. It showed only one location and a small fraction of the staff. The recruitment section was out of date and listed just one office.

Spire was telling local authorities and candidates they were recruiting across all their offices. The website did not reflect that reality. They had recently taken over two local care businesses, which became Spire Homecare Frome and Spire Homecare Midsomer.

More people than ever were looking at the site. This included transferring staff, and clients and families moving over to the new group. With the previous agency, every change went through a process that took days, sometimes longer. Each change came at a cost. Spire estimated a new site would take months and cost around £10,000.

What I did

A working prototype in an afternoon

I started with Spire’s own prototype, recruitment content, and service information. I built a working prototype for the CEO and Regional Operations Manager in around six hours. This gave them something tangible to review and refine before we committed to the full build.

The full site in about a week

I then built the full site with Spire’s Head Office over about a week of evenings and weekends. I used Claude to assist with the development. The site is deployed on Vercel and Cloudflare. The SEO modules are ones I built myself, so the structure supports search visibility from launch.

Spire’s own words on every page

All of the site’s content was written by Spire’s own team. I built the structure around their words. This ensures the tone and details are accurate to their daily operations. I also advised setting up a blog section where Spire’s staff share their own experiences.

Built so the team can change it themselves

The site is designed for the team to manage. They can update job adverts, staff details, and service information without waiting for external help. This removes the bottleneck that previously slowed down their communications.

What the new site does

The new site reflects the full scale of Spire’s operations. It includes:

  • Every office has its own page, listing the areas it covers, its team, the services it provides, and its CQC rating.
  • Every service is on the site, and the information can be downloaded.
  • Every staff member has a photo and job title, and can be emailed with one click.
  • A full recruitment section with an embedded video explaining the recruitment process. Job adverts pull through automatically from SeeMeHired.
  • The option to arrange a care assessment throughout the site.

What changed

Spire reports organic visits rose from 188 in September 2025 to 262 in September 2026. This is an increase of around 39%. This period also included the opening of new locations and the takeover of two businesses.

Spire says changes that used to take days now take minutes. New sections that used to take weeks or months now take hours. The site was very well received when presented, with very few changes needed.

Key takeaway

A website should reflect the whole business, every office and every service. If you are a care provider or small service business, your site needs to support your recruitment and local presence. Build it so your team can update it easily. This keeps your information current and your message clear.
